Class 3

Welcome to Class 3

We love learning and we are always busy being creative, in fact we follow a creative curriculum!  Each term we have a new connected curriculum unit which much of our learning journey is linked.

In English we study a variety of texts that relate to our connected curriculum. We love reading both factual texts and fiction.  We are effective writers creating all forms of writing from information books to dramatic descriptions.  We also link science, history, geography, music, art and design technology  to our connected curriculum units.  We learn our maths in groups where we have time to learn and practise different methods to answer questions on fluency.  We practise and consolidate our learning in all areas of maths so that we are confident and able to solve problems and reason independently.

We follow schemes for Personal, Social and Health Education and French; not forgetting Computing and P.E. which also includes swimming lessons at a local pool.  We like to get out and use our garden area and field.  Over the seasons, the plants and trees inspire our creativity in writing and art and are especially wonderful for increasing our scientific knowledge. Class 3 are responsible for tending the school garden, where we grow lots of produce.

We are a Church of England Primary, hence we follow the Understanding Christianity syllabus, Peterborough Diocese syllabus and also learn Religious Education through our school Christian values.  We enhance our curriculum by inviting people into school to share their knowledge on a specific subject and we go on visits to interesting places such as the theatre and museums.
